AnaerobeHighlights•

In this report, we described a case of subcutaneous abscess due to Prevotella bivia which developed in the right shoulder of a middle-aged female.

The abscess recurred several times, and finally we could get a good control about it.

The Prevotella bivia infection to a part of body other than urogenital system and intra-oral space is rare, and its recurrence is not reported previously.

We discussed some causes of such an uncommon and recurrent infection. However, they remained unclear.
