Dear Editor,

The conjoined 9th Congress of the Turkish Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (TSRM) and 2nd Turkish National Emergency Hand Surgery And Microsurgery (ACELEMDER) Congress, namely HandMicro 2022, was successfully held at the La Blanche Island Hotel in Bodrum from May 18 to 21, 2022.

Initially planned for the year 2020, yet delayed several times due to the pandemic, the Congress was met with more than 80 faculty and 300 microsurgeons. Among the faculty, there were 12 international distinguished guests. The keynote lecture at the opening ceremony was given by Prof. Kevin C. Chung with the title “How to Get Published in an Academic Journal? An Editor's Perspective.”

The planning which began in 2018 after the memorable 4th APFSRM meeting in Antalya aimed to construct a compound and high-level scientific program for the young and renowned microsurgeons from all backgrounds; plastic surgeons, orthopedics, and hand surgeons. We are quite proud of this well-received meeting after several years of preparations, cancellations, and unvoluntary changes. The success of the Congress can largely be credited to the President of TSRM, Prof. Bulent Ozcelik, former President Prof. Serhan Tuncer, President of ACELEMDER, Prof. Turker Ozkan, and the organizing committee of the Congress, as well as their local societies for their contributions and commitment to the success of the congress.

We have shown a great example of collaboration between sister societies, and we sincerely hope that the collaboration will continue to grow, the success of the upcoming meetings will surpass the former ones, and that Turkish microsurgeons will appreciate the value and significance of their contribution to our society. In this way, we congratulate Prof. Ali Rıza Erçöçen and his colleagues upon their appointment as the new Executive Committee of TSRM.

We encourage all members to attend and take part in the daily educational activities of the microsurgery societies and attend national and international congresses. With a strong history and tradition combined with a substantial number of young surgeons, Turkish society deserves to advance in the field of Reconstructive Microsurgery. We are already looking forward to meet at the upcoming national meeting in 2024.
