Editorial overview: Eco-evolutionary dynamics in microbiology comes of age

John Bruce is a postdoctoral researcher in the Hoskisson lab at the University of Strathclyde. His work has previously focused on cooperation and conflict in microbial populations — ranging from the role of public goods and toxin production in natural soil populations to how bacteriophage communicate to make informed decisions when infecting a host. He is currently working on the role of these social behaviours in Streptomyces populations.

Paul Hoskisson is the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair in Engineering Biology at the University of Strathclyde. His work is focussed on the evolution of antibiotic biosynthetic clusters, evolution-guided antibiotic discovery and the evolution of antibiotic-producing Actinobacteria in natural and industrial systems.
