Dear Editor,

We would like to share ideas on “Acute onset of tinnitus in patients with sudden deafness.”[1] Cvorovic et al. concluded that “Tinnitus triggered by ISSHL was more frequent in patients with better contralateral hearing and of a younger age, irrespective of the severity of hearing loss on the affected side or the asymmetry between the ears.”[1] We agree for possible advantage on the interesting findings from this study. Some limitations are already mentioned by Cvorovic et al. They noted that there were no data on the degree of tinnitus. The question is on the operative definition of tinnitus in this study. Tinnitus might be a complaint of a patient that requires verification. In a recent report, a high-frequency audiometer can identify more cases of tinnitus than a conventional audiometer.[2]
