Operative Techniques in Sports MedicineABSTRACT

Understanding the relationships of the medial and lateral aspects of the knee has a critical clinical role for patient care. These anatomical relationships are put into biomechanical and surgical context as an improved understanding of these relationships can guide surgeons in choosing the optimal reconstructive/repair technique for a given injury to the knee. The purpose of this review is to describe the bony, soft tissue, and neurovascular anatomy, quantitatively and qualitatively, in relation to surrounding anatomical structures and outline their clinical significance as it relates to surgical intervention for complex lateral and medial sided injuries of the knee.
