Collagen Hydrogels

In article number 2101509 by Shun Itai and Hiroaki Onoe, an immunological deformation reaction of blood vessels is reproduced on a flexibly deformable collagen tube device both at the tissue and cell levels. An inflammatory mediator induces contraction of endothelial cells and shrinkage of the vessel tissue thanks to the self-standing collagen tube. The traction force is calculated by numerical analysis, and drug screening was demonstrated with an anti-histamine material.
