Targeting T-type channels in cancer: what is on and what is off?

Anna Visa is a postdoctoral researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (IRBLleida). She graduated in biomedical sciences in 2015 and was awarded a PhD by the University of Lleida in 2021. She works on discriminating on-target from off-target effects of T-type calcium channel pharmacological blockers on glioblastoma multiforme cells.

Lía Alza graduated in biotechnology from the University of Lleida in 2018. Her final degree project focused on oncolytic viruses as a therapeutic strategy against glioblastoma. She is studying the physiological roles of T-type calcium channels in glioblastoma multiforme as part of her PhD.

Carles Cantí is a professor of physiology at the University of Lleida, and principal scientist at the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (IRBLleida). His research centers on the role of ion channels in cancer and their pharmacological and genetic targeting. He was awarded a PhD in neurobiology by the University of Barcelona, before a postdoctoral appointment at the Pharmacology Department of University College London to study the modulation of neuronal calcium channels by G-proteins and accessory subunits.
