Cytologic features in ascitic fluid of well‐differentiated papillary mesothelial tumor

Well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma is a rare mesothelial proliferation that predominantly affects the peritoneum of female patients. Due to its relatively indolent clinical behavior, it recently has been renamed well-differentiated papillary mesothelial tumor (WDPMT) by the World Health Organization1. Clinically, most WDPMTs are incidental findings during surgery or radiologic examination for other reasons. Several well-defined lesions are more common that solitary ones and rarely the tumor shows multiple miliary nodules on the peritoneum or serosal surfaces of internal organs2-4.
