News: Changes to the editorial team

We welcome a New Editor-in-Chief, Delphine Dean, recruited from the Editorial Board. Delphine Dean is the Ron and Jane Lindsay Family Innovation Professor in Bioengineering at Clemson University in the USA. Her doctoral thesis was in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT and she now runs a Multi-scale Bioelectromechanics laboratory. She steps up to the role of Editor-in-Chief at a time when the multi-scale nature of biology is moving onto centre stage. Her appointment is a message to the Biophysics and Molecular Biological communities that there is no longer a serious division between the two. This has been very clear to the two Editors-in-Chief who continue with her. Both Tom Blundell and Denis Noble see this as the direction in which Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology is heading.

Peter Kohl, meanwhile, is stepping down from that position in order to manage a leading role in a major multi-institute funding development in Germany. During his tenure as Editor-in-Chief Peter Kohl has brought great rigour and high standards in his work for the Journal. He will step down to join the Editorial Board, so we will not completely lose his insistent and persuasive voice. The journal owes a lot to his work over the last few years.
