In this retrospective study by Bayle Iniguez et al, patients who did not receive preventive anticoagulant treatment after ACL reconstruction did not have more tromboembolic events than the group that received preventive anticoagulant treatment.

This study may raise questions about the value of routine preventive anticoagulation in a population without risk factors.
