Direct Oral Anticoagulant and Head Trauma: Much Ado About Nothing

The use of anticoagulants continues to rise in conjunction with the increasing age of our population.1 Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are rapidly becoming usual care for the treatment of venous thromboembolism and atrial fibrillation. They have similar efficacy and reduced bleeding complications compared with traditional warfarin therapy, but their degree of anticoagulation is not as easily measured.2
